Hard water — we’ve all heard the term, but do you really know what it is? Your water is considered “hard” when calcium and magnesium are present. You can have your water tested to determine the presence of these minerals. The test results will come back with a measurement of hardness, displayed in grains per gallon:
Soft: 0 – 3.5 GPG
Moderate: 3.5 – 7 GPG
Hard: 7 – 10.5 GPG
Very Hard: 10.5 GPG +
If your water is hard, it’s essential to invest in a water softener. Magnesium and calcium can dry out your hair, clog up your fixtures, decrease the lifespan of your appliances, give you eczema, turn your clothes a different color, and cause your dishes to have white spots on the surfaces. A softener will reduce the amount of impurities in your water, allowing you to have luxuriously soft water.
How Does a Water Softener Work?
A softener removes calcium and magnesium through a process called an ion exchange. In the softener, there are little plastic beads called resin. Attached to this resin are tiny salt molecules that will be exchanged with the minerals. Think of the salt as a less powerful magnet to the calcium and magnesium — when the minerals pass by, they knock the salt out of the way and stick to the resin. Softeners have a brine tank filled with salt to restore the system after a certain number of gallons of water have passed through.
During the rejuvenation process, the outlet valve is closed, and it begins pumping the highly concentrated salt throughout the tank, removing all of the magnesium and calcium and replacing it with salt. This process happens continuously until you have to restore the salt in the brine tank. With this, a small amount of salt is added to your water supply, not nearly enough to notice a difference in taste, so you can rest assured that you’re getting the highest quality water possible from the softener.

The multi-stage process includes Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) filters for removing various contaminants, High Activity Carbon (HAC) filters for eliminating chlorine and odors, Filter-AG Plus® for reducing suspended matter, and High-Density Garnet Filter Media for effective filtration. The final step includes the HALO ION Inline Water Conditioner, which employs magnetic fields to alter the molecular structure of hard water minerals, preventing limescale buildup and corrosion. The HALO H2 ZERO system is a state-of-the-art solution. It comes in two unique combinations: carbon/ION and carbon/proprietary scale media. Both options prevent limescale buildup. With zero electricity, backwash, and maintenance necessary, the H2 ZERO is a game-changer for homeowners interested in Charlotte water filtration systems.
Signs You Need a Water Filter
Do you need a water filtration system? If you relate to any of the following statements, you do:
Your water smells strange or unpleasant.
Your water is brown or cloudy.
Your water has a metallic or bitter taste, suggesting mineral or metal issues.
Your family is experiencing skin irritation and dry hair.
Your appliances frequently clog or require repairs.
Carbon Filter Water Filtration Systems
Chemicals are part of our everyday lives at this point, as they are present in everything from cleaning supplies to gasoline. But do you want to ingest any such chemical into your body? Even if you have a Brita filter and drink everything after being filtered, your body still absorbs chemicals like chlorine and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) through the skin like a sponge when you bathe or wash your hands.
Charlotte is required to add chlorine to the water supply in order to kill any harmful bacteria in the system. However, many more chemicals are also added to treat your water in order to protect you, and these chemicals can give off a smell and taste you don’t want in your water. What’s the solution?
Carbon filter water filtration systems rid your water supply of chemicals that may produce an unpleasant smell or taste, giving you bottled water quality right out of your tap. This active carbon filter acts as a sponge to absorb VOCs, including chlorine, chloramines, heavy metals, man-made pollutants, and pesticides. With your new water filtration installation, your water will taste fresh, and you won’t have to worry about the chemicals entering your body. Want to know what you’re putting in your body? Our experts can test your water for you and recommend the perfect whole-house filtration system.
UV Filter Water Treatment
An ultraviolet filter is harmless to humans while being very dangerous to small microorganisms. A UV filter water treatment ensures your water is free of bacteria, viruses, and parasites. This method is effective, chemical-free, and ideal for homeowners.
One of the most basic filters that can be added to your home, which is often used on homes with a well system to prevent debris from clogging up your pipes, is a sediment filter. This filtration system acts like a net that catches anything bigger than a red blood cell (5 Micron) or about 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. With its amazing capabilities, the sediment filter is a popular choice for homeowners.
Reverse Osmosis Water Filter
The cleanest drinking water you can obtain is from a reverse osmosis water filter. They get rid of everything from viruses and bacteria to salt and chlorine. Essentially, anything bigger than a water molecule will not be able to pass through its semi-permeable membrane, guaranteeing your water is exceptionally pure.

First, we will come and take a water sample from your home to determine what type of whole-home water filtration system best fits your needs. Next, we ready the filter and bring it to your house for installation. Once we get to your home, we can have it installed within 3 hours.
How much do your water filtration services cost?
We charge a $125 service fee to give an estimate on your water filter (this fee will be waived at the time of work). An estimate is necessary to provide an accurate assessment of your home’s water quality and to ensure we recommend the right residential water filtration system.
Which filter is right for me?
Selecting the ideal water filtration system hinges on various factors such as your water source, the contaminants (e.g., chlorine, lead) that are present, your preferred filtration method (e.g., carbon, reverse osmosis), and your household’s water consumption. Our team can help analyze your water quality and assess filter performance and maintenance needs to find the filter that aligns with your unique requirements and preferences.

Michael came to our store to fix an ongoing issue that another company had previously "fixed." He was very professional and made sure the job was completed before leaving. He made sure to explain what the issues were so that we… More could contact property management about the problem that could have been caused by another tenant since we are on a shared line. He was great and we are happy with the job well done!
Absolutely perfect! Michael was knowledgeable, went above and beyond the call of duty to find the parts I needed. Explained things, showed me how they worked, very patient, expertly done! My home had a slab leak, instead of repairing they re-piped my entire home. Called several other companies and no one wanted to touch the job for some reason. Superior did not hesitate and provided prompt and expedient service. They… More walked through the home twice and made sure we knew exactly what would take place and that's exactly what they did, great communication. The end result was actually less intrusive than I imagined it would be, can hardly tell they were their. From start to finish this company is top-notch and that's a rare find these days. Stan Hamrick was the lead on this project and he always kept me in the loop and is definitely a man of his word, excellent job. Armin was one of the techs, never met him but his work was excellent. Not sure of anyone else that was on the job but they deserve credit, great job guys! I appreciate everything Superior did to make this a painless process, zero complaints and I will definitely be a return customer!
